Open, Close, Transform: Folding Doors as the Backbone of Event Spaces – QC project

An event space should be two things: functional and flexible. In a busy city like Quezon City, venue or business owners should have a space that can keep up with a packed calendar of diverse gatherings. Whether it is a small, private birthday party or a large corporate event, the venue must be able to change its layout quickly to meet different needs and people.

In our recent project in Quezon City, we ventured on how the right design and tools can make a room feel both intimate and grand depending on the occasion. One way to achieve this was through the installation of folding doors. More to being space dividers and decorative pieces; they serve as the functional backbone of the entire space.

To understand why they work so well, let’s take a glimpse as to how these tools are built. Folding doors are made of several tall panels that are connected by hinges. Instead of swinging open like a traditional door, which takes up a lot of floor space, they slide along instead and fold up against each other, much like an accordion, which is what they are called sometimes. They are usually built with sturdy frames, allowing light and air to flow through even when the doors are closed. This structure is designed to be lightweight enough for a single person to move easily but strong enough to act as a solid, secure wall when they are fully extended.

For an event space, folding doors are essential tools as these allow numerous transformations within a large space in a matter of minutes. In a large space, two events can be happening at once. The folding doors allow this large space to be divided into two while effectively providing clear boundaries and a sense of privacy. On the other hand, if a client needs a massive, open hall for a wedding or a seminar, you simply slide the doors back to merge multiple rooms into one big area for a larger volume of attendees. In the QC project, this meant the venue could host almost any type of gathering without the owners ever needing to move heavy furniture or set up temporary, messy partitions. In addition, these folding doors could also serve as cover for materials stocked up for events. This means no need to make up for a stock room; folding doors could also serve this purpose!

All it takes are three simple moves: open, close, transform! Venue owners could go from big parties to intimate celebrations without all the hustle. Everyone can enjoy their privacy while not compromising all the fun and their event’s objective. Want to explore more folding doors options? Visit this link: https://www.carpet.com.ph/folding-door/
